CLOSET MEMORIES

Pushing past old wire hangers to bags and boxes below
finding precious favorite books, 45’s of vinyl,
feel good music making you want to dance.
Autographed yearbooks signed, many long forgotten.
Secret diaries with tiny locks and keys, filled with a young
girls angst and dreams of love, broken rules, hurts and smiles.
Once upon a time “Mr. Right” photos torn into; pasted back
together by brittle, yellowed tape.
Notebooks full of poetry written late at night.
Prom night and movie ticket stubs, old high heels,
promise ring in ballerina box, pressed corsage,
memories unleashed.
Peeling back the layers of the past like
layers of a sweet onion…bringing tears
of what if’s?

About lenwilliamscarver

A simple woman of simple means, walking a gravel road on my journey, made stronger by paths taken barefoot, pain endured, and revealed in these writings. Mistakes made some taught a lesson some lessons ignored, now learning to forgive myself.
